On March 1, 2014 I’ll be participating in Cycle for Survival at Equinox in Roslyn. It’s a fund raiser for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and 100% of the donations go to rare cancer research. So far $31.5 million dollars has been raised since 2007.

The event is (4) 45 minute sessions on a spin bike and to say it’s intense is an understatement.

I ride 4 Sue.
I’ve known Sue since 1973. January of 2011 she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (Brain Cancer) and had surgery to remove the tumor. Three months later it grew back so it was removed again. There is no cure for this type of brain cancer and the median survival rate is 15 months. Well, after radiation and chemo she has had no regrowth and is in the 1% that has survived this long.

Unfortunately in August of 2013 they found a lump in her breast and after a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She had a double mastectomy a few weeks later underwent chemo again.

The good news is the breast cancer has been cured, but the brain cancer will never be. It will grow back.

I ride for future generations.
There is no miracle cure for Sue, but the money raised will fund research that will help the next generation.

If you can make a donation please go to http://www.iride4sue.org. You will be sent to our team’s web page on MSKCC’s website. Scroll down and click on my name to get to my personal page. No donation is too small, those $1 and $5 donation do add up. Your donation is secure since it’s handled by MSKCC’s site… I see nothing other than a donation was made.

Join the Battle and help find a cure for rare cancers so there won’t be any more stories like Sue’s.

Sincerely,

Glenn Ring

Another year has past and we're still "cycling for survival".

Things have not been good for Sue. She's has a regrowth which has impaired he speech and motor skills. She has problems forming sentences and finding words. It makes it very difficult to talk on the phone. She has problems writing and reading so email and texts are out. She's pretty much shut in and has 24x7 care.

Last year after having a stomach tumor removed, my mother had a tumor in each lung. One was treated with radiation and the other with surgery.

My cousin found a lump in her breast at which time she was diagnosed with breast and lung cancer. 6 months later they found a tumor in her other breast.

Finally my future daughter-in-law, Jamie, had her father pass away from a 6 year fight with brain cancer.

It's been a bad year.....

Saturday March 5th, will be my 4th year at Cycle for Survival. This year not only will Jamie be riding again ,but Stacy and Toby will be joining. We hope to raise more than we did last year and i'm asking for your help to achieve that goal.

Donating is easy, just go to http://www.iride4sue.org go down to the bottom and click on my name. You will be directed to my MSKCC webpage where you can use a credit card to make a donation. 100% of every penny raised goes directly to research. Not one cent is used for salaries, promotion or advertising. Your donation is also tax deductible.

Thank you for your support and hopefully, one day I will not have to do this.

The event is just one week away and today our team passed the $20,000. It's not too late to donate..

100% of your donation will be researching cures for rare cancers in just 6 months.

So i've officially started fund raising.

Last year our team raise $25,000 and we hope to beat that.

Donations are tax deductible and 100% of ever dollar goes to research.

So far i've raised $380, all with small donations.

Thanks Mike(Bucky) for the donation.

And Jeffrey.

$680 in just a few days and mostly from the VW community. Now I have to turn the screws on my family to donate. I know some are waiting for the 2017 tax year.
